Your Guardians have agreed to look after all money raised in the 1892 Pledge Scheme. The money cannot leave the Trust bank account without the agreement of this group of people.
Any decisions your Guardians take will require a majority vote by Trust members to approve any decision the Guardians make.
Who are your Guardians? They tell us about themselves in their own words:
I’ve been reporting on North East football since 1994, firstly for the Sunday Sun, then at The Times for 21 years and most recently for The Athletic, where I’m a senior writer. Before all of that, I was a season ticket holder in the Gallowgate End. I’m very proud to be a Patron of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and ghost-wrote Sir Bobby’s final book. In that book, Bobby asked the question “What is a club, in any case?” His answer: “It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city,” sums up pretty much everything I feel about football. It’s what Newcastle can and should be like.
I was born and raised in London UK. I played at the highest level for 18 years in the English Premier League, played for the English National Team, with 500 senior level appearances for Wimbledon FC, Newcastle United, Derby County & Queens Park Rangers. I was asked to be the Chairman of the PFA, Professional Footballers Association, in the UK which I held for 2 years. After my professional football career I was an analyst for SKY Sports Television, covering all the major soccer leagues and competitions. I moved to the US 2008 to become the head analyst on Fox Soccer Channel, which is now Fox Sports. I was the Head Coach of the U18 LA Galaxy team for 2 years and then the General Manager of the LA Blues, USL. Four years ago I became the owner and Head Coach of the San Diego Flash, NSPL. I hold a UEFA Pro License as well as the UEFA ‘A’ and ‘B’ License.

I was born in Newcastle General Hospital on 21st April 1957. My family lived at Palmersville which is now in North Tyneside. I attended St Mary’s RC Primary School, Forest Hall and St Mary’s Technical School on Benton Park Road, Newcastle. On leaving school I worked at British Gas, Norgas House, Killingworth. In 1983 I was elected to Gateshead Council as a Councillor for the Saltwell Ward and served as a local Councillor for 27 Years, was the Chair of the Education Committee before becoming the Council’s Deputy Leader in 2002. In 2010 I was elected to be the member of Parliament for Gateshead. I watched my first games at St James’ Park in the mid 1960’s and was fortunate enough to see much of Newcastle’s run to the Fairs Cup Final, including the first leg of the Final, as a 12 year old. I have supported the Toon all of my adult life and I currently have season tickets in the Gallowgate End of the Ground. I still think it remarkable as an almost 64 year old that I have not seen Newcastle United lift a top tier domestic trophy in my lifetime.
I am a lifelong NUFC fan and season ticket holder for over ten years up until very recently, and chartered accountant with 15+ years experience working in accounting, advisory, banking and investment. Well versed in capital raising and mergers/acquisitions I recognise the risks and concerns faced by many investors and I see my role as Guardian as being a key protection mechanism for our loyal members. This is a role with a defined objective and strict protocol and I am delighted to support the 1892 Pledge Scheme in this capacity.
